Moving home

When it comes to moving you will either use a professional removal company or you will decide to do it yourself. Either way you will need to have arrangements in place well in advance of your moving day.

If you decide to use a removal company, around two months before you move you should look for estimates of cost from a number of companies and settle on the one that provides what you need at a competitive cost. This will not necessarily be the cheapest.

If you decide to move yourself you will need to assess what size van you need and talk to a number of van hire companies for costs.

Whichever method of moving you choose, make sure you have booked it well in advance of your moving day.

There also a number of people and organisations that need to know you are moving. And, there are utilities that need disconnecting at your current home and connecting at your new home. You will also want the Post Office to redirect mail for a period until you have notified everyone of your change of address.

Depending on how far you are moving you may need to arrange new schools, doctors, dentists and so on.
